1. Introduction & Overview

Welcome to Roomiista ("we," "our," or "us"). Roomiista is a curated social and discovery platform dedicated to interior design inspiration, architectural aesthetics, home décor concepts, and furniture showroom discovery. We provide our services via our mobile applications on Google Play Store and Apple App Store, and through our web portals.

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal data you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains transparently how we collect, use, store, process, and protect your information when you interact with Roomiista, as well as your rights regarding your data.

2. Information We Collect

We only collect information that is strictly necessary to provide, personalize, and secure our services:

  • Account & Profile Information: When you register an account, we collect your name, username, email address, password (stored strictly as a one-way cryptographic hash using bcrypt), and optional profile details such as profile image, bio, and contact telephone number.
  • User-Generated Content: Photos, videos, room layouts, project descriptions, captions, tags, comments, likes, and bookmarks you create, post, or save on Roomiista.
  • Direct Communications (Messages): Direct messages and attachments exchanged with other users or showrooms. All direct message contents are encrypted at rest using industry-standard AES-256 encryption and encrypted in transit via TLS/HTTPS.
  • Showroom & Gallery Details: For business users operating galleries or furniture showrooms, we collect company name, commercial registration information, physical branch addresses, geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude), operating hours, and business inquiry contact numbers.
  • Technical & Diagnostic Data: Device model, operating system version, application version, language preference, IP address, and anonymized performance diagnostics used solely for crash prevention and service reliability.
  • Device Permissions: We request access to your device camera and photo library only when you explicitly choose to upload media for posts, reels, stories, or profile avatars. We never access your camera or gallery in the background.

3. Cloud Infrastructure & Data Storage

Your data is hosted and managed using enterprise-grade cloud architecture:

  • Backend Compute & Database: Our primary application programming interface (API) and relational databases are deployed on private, access-restricted Amazon Web Services (AWS) Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instances.
  • Media Storage: User-uploaded images, videos, and thumbnails are stored securely in dedicated, private Amazon Simple Storage Service (AWS S3) buckets and distributed through AWS CloudFront Content Delivery Network (CDN) with strict origin access controls.
  • Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between your device and Roomiista infrastructure is secured using Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.2 / TLS 1.3 / HTTPS).
  • Encryption at Rest: In addition to server volume encryption, private direct messages are encrypted at rest at the database level using AES-256-CBC.

4. No Third-Party Data Sharing, No Ads, No Data Selling

Roomiista operates on a clean, subscription-and-community-oriented business model:

  • No Third-Party Advertising: We do not integrate third-party advertising networks (such as Google AdMob or Meta Audience Network). You will never be tracked for behavioral advertising on Roomiista.
  • No Data Brokers: We do not sell, rent, lease, or trade personal information to third parties, data brokers, or marketing agencies under any circumstances.
  • Zero External Analytics Tracking: We do not allow third-party data tracking across outside websites or applications. All processing is internal to Roomiista.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use your information exclusively to:

  • Create and maintain your account, profile, and security credentials.
  • Display your public posts, reels, stories, and interior design collections.
  • Enable direct messaging between users and furniture showrooms.
  • Help users locate nearby verified furniture showrooms and branches on maps.
  • Send essential transactional notifications (such as account verification, password resets, and critical security notices).
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent activity, spam, and abuse.

6. Data Retention & Account Deletion

You have absolute control over your personal data on Roomiista:

  • Individual Content Deletion: You can edit or permanently delete any of your posts, reels, stories, comments, or conversations at any time within the mobile application.
  • In-App Account Deletion: You can permanently delete your entire account and all associated data at any time directly in the mobile app by navigating to Settings > Delete Account.
  • Web Deletion Portal: You may also request the deletion of your account and all associated data without opening the mobile app via our secure web deletion portal at Delete Account Portal.
  • Permanent Purge: When your account is deleted, all personal records, profile data, posts, reels, stories, comments, likes, bookmarks, messages, and uploaded physical media files stored on AWS S3 are permanently, irreversibly erased from our servers within 48 hours.

7. Children's Privacy

Roomiista is designed for design enthusiasts, homeowners, architects, and interior professionals. Our service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we discover that a child has provided us with personal information, we will immediately delete such data and terminate the account.

8. Your Rights (GDPR & Global Privacy Standards)

Depending on your jurisdiction, you possess the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • The right to access and review the personal information we hold about you.
  • The right to rectify or update inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • The right to erasure ("Right to be Forgotten") and permanent deletion of your data.
  • The right to data portability and to receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • The right to object to or restrict certain processing activities.
